Done with the First Day of School

Wednesday, November 29th, 2006

Well, the girls had their first days of school at the new schools. It is kind of funny – Beth’s last teacher was Ms. Burnham, and her new one is Mrs. Burns. Samantha also has a Mrs. Burns – but not the same lady. It went very well. Both girls enjoyed their classes and teachers. I was pleased with the schools as well. I am sure the Batavia School District we were in was better, but this seems smaller and kinder in many ways. We shall see. Both came home with friends and stories and we have gone out and bought all the new necessary school supplies.

We all have new phone numbers – email me if you need them: tracey@hines57.com.This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it We have been so incredibly blessed by this move. The only major thing left is a new church family. Keep us in your prayers.

Progress Keeps on Keeping on

Monday, November 27th, 2006

Well, the girls are signed up for school and all set to go. They start tomorrow. We just did our first OFFICIAL grocery shopping for the new apartment, the saleslady at the local Bi-Lo was bug-eyed. I also forgot that our big freezer is in storage so I had to become VERY creative for stuffing all our groceries into the MUCH smaller freezer than I am used to. How do “normal” people do it – just joking.

Rob will be happier though, not as much eating out.

Okay, well I think I may go take a nap, the person across the driveway from us had their carpets cleaned this morning at 5:00 am – yes, I said “5:00 am.” It was really loud and I am still tired so I am going back to bed.

We went by the new house yesterday and actually were able to walk thru it. It is just bare bones studs, floors and ceilings, but I love it. I was able to see the yard and the view and the deck and the basement. I am so excited about it sleeping is becoming difficult.

Talk to you later.

Boxes are Unpacked

Saturday, November 25th, 2006

Yes, that is correct, the boxes are unpacked. We are in the process of getting some new furniture, so the office is still messy and the living room is on the VERY empty side. But, the boxes are unpacked and we are offically moved in and settled. Boy does that feel good.

The rest of the family is fine, but I am still a bit sore in the calves, all the up and down the stairs on moving day was more than I have done in a while. Feeling better every day though.

The girls are making friends, Rob has been hanging out with neighbors and we had a very nice young man (about 5 years old) named, Jeremy, who told us all about God and heaven and what our new bodies will be like cause his momma told him all about it. He was VERY sweet and had all the facts right.

Looking around to see what church we will go to tomorrow. Still haven’t quite decided yet, but I am sure we will know soon.

I was busy yesterday, we have our new renters insurance, car insurance updated, the washer and dryer are being delivered today, changed over the bank accounts and put away all the clothes. Whew, I am still tired.

We are finding our way around town pretty well already. The consensus is that we still don’t feel like we live here, but it is getting closer.

We are missing all our friends and the girls are getting anxious about starting new schools this week. Scott and Mary have been out of town with her family and come back tomorrow.

Okay, enough for now. Love and miss you all.

We are in our NEW apartment

Thursday, November 23rd, 2006

Hello Everybody,
We are officially in our new apartment. It is rather large, sadly, on the second floor. We have three bedrooms, the girls are sharing the master br with the cats, we have the second largest and the computers get their own room as the third bedroom. It has a nice size living room and a dining room, kitchen, and back deck. Most of the boxes are gone from the main living areas. When we were moving in, we decided to only move the light stuff and rent a storage unit since we will only be here for a couple of months.

Checked on our new house yesterday, WOW! I am so excited. It is going to be beautiful. Still looking like February for a closing date.

We didn’t move any of our couches so we will be shopping for new living room furniture in the next couple of days and really all is just well in our world.

Happy Thanksgiving! Have some turkey for us.

Bought a House

Thursday, November 16th, 2006

We’ve finally signed a contract, although the house is beeing built, so it isn’t actually a house yet, and we ain’t actually bought anything – I did sign a large quantity of paperwork!

We are going to purchase a house from Scenic Homes in thier River Falls development.

We are going with the Richmond Floor Plan.

Although we are going to get a walk-out basement thrown in as well, which will be roughed (studs, electric, and plumbing) out with the same floorplan as the first floor.

Finally, here is a Google Maps Link to where the house is going to be, it will be the last house (most North East) on Meadow Wood Drive.

Whooooooooo!

Monday, November 13th, 2006

So, Rob really got busy this weekend and we have things in place….a bit more than we did on Friday, anyway.

We have a place to rent. Rob is moving into an apartment next week. He is also planning on flying up here to help me out next weekend, I think he just misses me, but I am fine with that.

We have narrowed the search down to two places.

1. A new home being built. Ready in February – has great floorplan, walk out basement, new development, nice area, large home – EVERYTHING new. Space for a pool, no land.
Richmond home with walkout basement

2. A home Rob found yesterday, an 85 year old woman living alone in Gastonia, selling a beautiful ranch with over 3000 sf, 6.7 acres and needs updating – Rob fell in love with the lady, the home and the land. Rob said the house is much better in person and I assume we would take up the carpet and put down hardwood floors and get rid of the wallpaper.

MLS Num Price Bedrooms Bathrooms
600740 $249,900 3 3
City Square Feet Lot Size Year Built
Gastonia 3,195 6.7 1970

I am good with either, I assume that since the older woman is still living in the house, they would both close about the same time so that is not an issue. We will get firm prices on the new house with all the upgrades we want on either Monday night or Tuesday and then make a decision and and offer on Wednesday.

The girls and I plan on moving over Thanksgiving. I have to write the letter to their teachers today.

My bronchitis is better, still not able to sleep for more than 4 hours in a row – for the past week – so that is hard. But my chest feeling clearer and my body doesn’t hurt as much from all the hacking. The girls have been great help and it has “kind of” been relaxing.

Okay, that is the update for now. Love you all.
