Friday Night Campfire

Well, I've got a release tonight and I'll need to be in the office until at least 6:30pm, maybe a little later - so I might be a wee bit late getting the fire lit. If you show up, and I'm not there yet - go ahead make yerself at home - you know the routine. If you don't know what I'm referring to - every Friday night at 7:30pm I head out behind the house and start a fire. Then I sit around to see who shows up, and I'm never disappointed, someone always shows up! :-) We then talk about faith, philosophy, politics, and whatever else strikes our fancy. Make yourself welcome and come on out any time!

The Girls are Off to NY!!

Yep - that's correct. They took off yesterday and won't be back till next Monday. Leaving me in North Carolina as a veritable Geographic Bachelor - and all the glorious stuff that goes along with that. Mmmmhmmmm. I get to clean up the kitty litter box, make sure the cats have food and water, take the dog out on multiple walks a day and pick up his poop for him (and my mother-in-law thinks I'm the spoiled one!), keep him feed, lavish attention on the animals, AND make my own meals! I'm not as excited about this whole thing as one might think! :-)

Middle Schoolers

It is official. I am the parent of TWO middle schoolers. 6th and 8th graders. Beth got a Presidential award (signed by the President) OF THE UNITED STATES as well as an A/B Honor Roll award. Samantha got Best Newcomer award and Best Whoo Hoo-er Otherwise known as best sportmanship, but she clarified it for us. They are thrilled - me too. Went to Sonic to celebrate as all the best parents do. We leave for NY on Tuesday to go to Amy's wedding. Can't wait we are all wearing periwinkle. Have a FANTASTIC summer.

Week 4 Done, 6 More to Go

Well, last night's class went very well. It was emotional and lessons learned were about how a child will feel when they are taken from their family. It was and will be tough, our prayer is that we can show these children who God is and that he is Love. I am updating some photos today. I would encourage you to check out Beth and Madison Muddy as well as Jayne's new potty and Rob's surgery. You can have a Tuesday chuckle. Love you all. 4 more weeks till summer. Tracey

Okay It Has Been Too Long

Hey everybody, yes, I know it has been a while since I have posted. But I have been busy so please forgive me. We are heading into week 3 of our foster parenting classes. We are prayerfully hopeful that by the end of summer we will have other children entrusted into our care to love. The girls are doing great. Rob had knee surgery a week and a half ago and is healing very well. He bought a cane, he was using a crutch, but a cane is MUCH more manly to hobble around with. He looks quite dashing if I do say so myself. We have had some contractors come out to give us estimates on finishing the basement,...

They will get to see Aunt Carol and her gang and it is going to be wonderful - I am certain of it. The first floor of the house...

Luke Comes Home Today!!!

Whooo! Baby Luke (and his momma) gets to come home today. Right now, we have Daniel visiting with us. Yesterday Jayne was able to play with him and today he can play with Sam, Beth and Bear. We are all excited Mary and Luke can come home and get started on being a new family together. When we saw Scott this morning, the stress was gone. God is Great! On another front - our house has the carpet in now. We are waiting on a phone call from the builder to see when our closing date is. Doesn't seem like it will be much longer now. Can't hardly wait. Love and Kisses...Tracey

Luke Emmett Hines is HERE!!!

Well, in typical, efficient Mary Ann Style, Luke Emmett Hines is here. Born this morning at about 8:15. She went into labor last night about 1:00 am. Of course, neither Rob nor I had our phones on so we didn't find out until about noon today. We will go visit later today after mom and dad have had a bit of a rest. Daniel is with Jayne and I may call her to see if she needs anything. I don't know anything more about Luke than his name and that he is healthy and so is his mom. Oh, Wait. I also know that his Daddy is awful proud and glad to meet him. I will post photos and write more later.... Tracey

Report Cards and Spelling Bees

Hello Everybody! Well we have just received our first report cards for being in North Carolina and it is a wonderful day in the Hines house. Sam and Beth both received all A's and 1 B each. Beth won the class spelling bee and participated in her school's spelling bee this morning. Rob and I were there to see and ta dah....She is the first runner up. It was down to the wire and she and another young lady were head to head and Beth missed the word alfalfa. It makes...

Mid January Review

Well, it is mid January and the house is coming along at a very quick rate. The girls and I went by and visited today. We have a driveway, we have a walkway, a tree in the front yard, shrubbery. Our dishwasher is in the house - not installed yet, but in the house. All the fixtures are in, lights, outlet covers, lightswitches - yep we have em. As far as I can tell, we are waiting on the stove, the countertops, the downstairs bath is missing a toilet - very important...the garage door, hardwood in the foyer and carpet. Then it needs a really good cleaning and we should be done. Whoooooooooot! Our...
